Do 3-D Games Cause Health Issues

Potential for dizziness, headaches, seizures

3-D Game dangers can include dizziness, headaches, and even seizures, and one game manufacturer, Nintendo, has even recommended that children under 7 should not use it in the 3D mode. Other gamers are not recommended to play for less than 30 minutes in 3D, which seems unusual considering the amount of time people spend playing video games in one sitting. 3D games, like any video games that have flashing elements, can cause seizures, but such events are not particular to the 3-D line.
Another hazard of three dimensional video games, which is the same as 3-D movies and 3-D TV, is that not everyone has the eye alignment necessary to properly process 3-D, so the effect can either be lost or an image doubling sensation can take place, which renders the effect to be irritating. These people should switch to 2D mode in video games, in the manner that they might have to close one eye while watching movies. Additionally, the sensation of depth can sometimes lead to nausea, especially when you are holding the game at a certain length (whether it is from a 3DS or 3-D smartphone) in the same way that some people can get carsick if they are not in the front seat.

Notes and Special Information

Special note: Not every 3-D gamer will experience these symptoms, and the Nintendo 3DS has a lot of satisfied customers.
