Who Can Gamble Online in DC?
Gaming Limited to People in Washington DC Borders
The District of Columbia is allowing online gambling for people who are within its borders, as a way to try and close its budget gap. DC will be the first jurisdiction to legalize online poker for its residents, and a Greek company known as Intralot will be the operator of the enterprise. At the time of this writing, it is not known how soon players can bet on poker, or games of skill and chance. The DC Lottery Commission will supervise the gambling. At the time of this writing, it looks like people will be able to gamble from laptops with a serial number that will identify them, and though you don't have to live in DC (So you could potentially gamble from a hotel, or in the Capital Rotunda) you would need to be within the confines of the district itself. Basically there will be hotspots for online gambling in bars, hotels, and restaurants, but conceivably anywhere with a WiFi connection could be a haven for online betting.
Notes and Special Information
Special note: If you have a gambling problem, you should seek help. Money is nicer when it is in your pocket, not riding on a bet that has a big chance of not paying off.
