Defibrillation Supplies, Videos, and Training
Defibrillators and AEDs for Sudden Cardiac Arrest Situations
Automatic External Defibrillators are manufactured for use by amateurs and first responders, but there is still no substitute for training during a lifesaving situation. Most manufacturers of defibrillation devices sell or give away training videos for operatiors, and include practice pads as well as dummies. Many portable defibrillators have a test or training mode designed to help first aid classes learn how to use the device. For advanced medical training, there are classes in how to use paramedic-grade defibrillators when qualified nurses, EMTs and first responders arrive to a case of cardiac arrest.
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone. Defibrillation equipment can keep this from happening. An AED (automated external defibrillator) is relatively inexpensive and can be purchased for your home, church, community group, or gathering place, and may indeed save a life if someone experiences cardiac arrest without prior notice. Defibrillator training, and how to use defibrillation accessories, is available and there are even practice pads and replacement batteries available.
Notes and Special Information
Special note: This site is in beta, and nothing here should be considered medical advice. Some people have called us and asked if Michael Jackson could have been saved with an automated external defibrillator, but it is unfair to speculate on the circumstances. Each case is unique, and not all defibrillation attempts will work, and not all cardiac arrest cases are treatable with defibrillators.
