Will the Apophis Asteroid collide with earth?

End time prophecy, 2012, and apocalypse talk of asteroid that has a chance of hitting Earth

The Apophis asteroid caused concern in 2004 when it was thought to be on a collision course with earth. It surfaced in the news again in 2011 when it was thought that it would either hit the earth in 2012 (according to internet lore) or 2036 (according to Russian scientists. NASA scientists dispute these findings and place the real odds of a collision at one in about a quarter million, but this has not dimmed interest in end-time prophecies, 2012 predictions, and even astrological forecasts related to this Asteroid.

If the asteroid does possibly present a danger, in 2029, 2036, or another time, there are asteroid protection strategies that may deflect it from its course or destroy it. The asteroid itself could come within the range of geosynchronous communications satellites, so the real danger is that it will either sweep a few away like a broom. or effect them gravitationally, but it is still a fairly small rock (the size of 3 football fields) so though a collision could cause real problems for earth, it can still pass safely by most space vehicles given enough planning.

Notes and Special Information

Special note: Usually you don't have to worry about the Asteroid you can see, but the one that you don't see coming until it is too late.
