Residents can play poker and games of chance
Online poker in Washington DC is being touted as a way to raise revenue for the cash-strapped federal district. Local government leaders hope that allowing internet gambling will make it possible to fix budget problems and add more revenue. The catch with online gambling in any state is that you have to be a resident of the state in order to play the games, and you have to be within the confines of that state, and the state has to allow it. Though DC is not really a state, and Congress controls many of its laws, there was a 30 day window for the US congress to reject online poker in DC, and that window has closed, so get ready to place bets on Texas Hold 'em, Pai Gow Poker, and many other exciting varieties of this game.
